God began to move on Melody Taylor's heart nearly a decade ago to step out in faith. The relentless calling soon became a burning song. While serving with an innercity ministry in Little Rock, a spark for missions abroad became clear. Go Near Ministries was birthed—by she and her husband Lewis—leading the whole Taylor family into an adventure of faith and service from Arkansas to Guatemala to Kenya.

As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Go Near Ministries, Melody is passionate about answering God's call to care for orphans, widows, and those who live in extreme poverty.

"After seeing the difference it made in both the young people we took and the orphans they interacted with, we knew that we were called to lead others with us beyond our borders to impact orphans internationally who were without the reasources we have in the US."

Today the ministry has expanded to a supportive role of raising funds for, and bringing volunteers to help with, the expansion of schools, churches, feeding programs and vocational training programs with our partners and projects in Kenya. Our volunteers who travel with us to serve orphans and the poor are given the opportunity to invest in others. Many volunteers return numerous times because it is such a renewing, life-giving experience. Melody invests in developing a broad and a ministry team of volunteers that has grown exponentially over the years.

When she is not raising funds or leading teams to Kenya, this busy mother of four loves to attend Community Bible Study and assist in the CBS Children's program. She and Lews have been married for 29 years. Her children Lowell, Anna, Claire and John all have a heart for missions as well. Her favorite outlet is Zumba, a high-energy dance class.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

James 1:27
